Update: Face coverings in school

The Prime Minister announced in Parliament today that, as from tomorrow, Thursday 20 January 2022, students will no longer be required to wear face coverings in classrooms.  At the time of writing, I have received no announcement from the Department for Education.

Students will, however, continue to wear face coverings in communal areas in schools, such as corridors, until Thursday 27 January 2022.

I am delighted that students will not need to wear masks in classrooms from tomorrow, because I know how challenging this has been for them.

Please remind your child that they DO still need to bring a face covering with them to school and that they must wear this in corridors and other communal places in school, for another week. This does not apply to those who are exempt.

Students need to continue to wear face coverings on public transport

With all good wishes,

Yours faithfully
